Re: So what have you bought lately?

Well, I was going to drive to Santa Fe to meet a KL shipment. One local wino was going to carpool with me and we were going to meet another formally local wino there to make a night of it with dinner and wine, etc. All three of us had vino coming from KL, could have been fun (as a one-off). But FedE...

To my surprise, I just won 3 x 2018 Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers. I thought for sure I get sniped at $89.83/each all-in. Not sure what I’ve heard about 2018 red burgs, but the critics (that I listen to) all like this particular wine: https://m.klwines.com/Auction/BidDetail/1651324...

I could bring a mature-ish Ridge Monte Bello and maybe a Heitz Martha’s, or a 70’s Forman-era Sterling cab. There’s lots of excellent New World whites to chose from and I’ve got some killer cali dessert wines too.

I had a brief glimpse of the 2017 a few weeks ago at the Saatchi tasting and it was similar too, albeit a v small pour. Glad I have a case of that too. I remember the buzz well on BWE about this wine circa 2018, compelling enough that I finally caved and secured half a case at the outrageous price of $59/each (outrageous compared to how they were giving it away in NH).

In my experience, in the last 40 yars Leoville Barton has been the most consistently good of the St Julien second growths. Re: I still say there is something fishy going on with the supply chain of 2019 Bordeaux.

Futures are often substantially cheaper than when the wines hit the shelves, even today. I don’t have hard numbers in front of me but my sense is you’re getting 20-25% off when buying Bordeaux as futures, even compared to prices right after the wines first show up. This payoff used to be (a lot?) be...

We can definitely source some bubbles in London as needed.
