Chapelle de Blagny Meursault Les Ravelles 2015

Post by Michael-P »

At a few of the BWE gatherings in the past couple years we've enjoyed some amazing white burgundy. That got me thinking maybe I should look for some those yummy chardonnays. Of course keeping my limit at $100/bottle. Well so far, after maybe 10 different such wines, we have not come across any even half as good as those BWE samples. This is just another of those.

2015 Chapelle de Blagny Meursault Les Ravelles - Clean light golden yellow color with medium hints of green. Good acid balance some complexity medium viscous mouthfeel. Butter, apricot, orange citrus, cherry. Although some complexity a very short finish and completely forgotten a minute later. 86

These days it is very difficult to find 1er Crus from Puligny, Chassagne, or Meursault for under $100. I was happy to get Puligny-Montrachet 2020 Les Champs Canet from J. M. Boillot recently for $100, but I have not tasted it yet. I like Boillot, so I am not too worried.

BTW, there are nice Oregon Chardonnays that are fine for most times I want a Chardonnay.

Yeah those Niellons are up to $150 now. I like those St. Innocent Freedom Hill Chardonnays, Stefan, they hit the spot with Maine lobster.

Yes, indeed, Jim.

I saw on WineSearcher that the 2017 Niellon you bought is available one place in WA state for $105. 'Course that does not mean it is really available for $105. $150 is more the norm. MacArthur has the current release (2022) for $109.
