1934 Petrus? That must be a MichaelP special. I was lucky enough to have a bunch of 1934s at a Francois and Tim lunch in Paris a few years ago and it is a very good vintage.

I would no great great wines last night, no whoops or wow. All were sound and showing good things.
Few comments, best or standouts for me were in that order :
1962 LLC (medium concentration, complex, gain more with air. Still medium red and dark berry fruits, earth, something medicinal herbs and white peppercorn in the long finish. Best time to drink it. From half bottle).
1997 Mouton Rothschild (very 1997 with dark red berries, lot of spices ‘’à la’’ Mouton, improved a bit all night, never fade).
1998 Pavie Macquin (is there something too say against 1998 RB wines? Rasberries, herbs, wet blackcurrants, minerals. Improved a lot duringvthe night. One of the favorite for the 2 ladies in attendance).
2004 Lafite Rothschild (very Lafite and very Pauillac. Concentrated black berries, earthy, lead, long, structured, balanced. Will gain complexity in 10 years).
1990 Conseillante (the same complex exotic nose than in the past, light roasted generous fruit and complex oak tones in mouth, but less powerful/concentrated than it was 8 years ago).
1934 Petrus (still greatly enjoyable, crushed berries, iron, some old fading flowers, light spices).
1999 Palmer (still young at age 25. The Cabernet over the merlot last night for me, with great black fruit, lot of structure, earthy and Margaux berries final).
1989 Cos Estournel (add it just one medium pour, concentrated, cos spicyness, light coal, dark fruit, good time to drink).
2000 Pichon Lalande (I still get lot of green, with some concentrated berries. Will i ever become a Lalande fan?).
1924 Larrivet Haut Brion (drinkable but a bit like very very old berries and wet wool socks).
1990 Champaloux Vouvray (Great, butter, apricots, peaches, rich, some roasted botrytis, would make some Sauternes shy).

For the Champagne, both were great, i consider a tie. Dom Pérignon with a bit more weight, lemon peel, minerals, salrty, long. The Comte was a bit lighter, but more subtle white flesh fruit, more salt, a bit more bubbles, long.

A good beginning to the weekend!
If we were there, Lucie and I would now be on our way to Ebbitt Grill to meet Jim. He would protest that he can't have wine for lunch because xxx, and then have both white and red with oysters.
I have some 2013 Dom here in Texas and will probably try it before we travel now that I know it is already drinking well.

Sigh you are absolutely right Stefan, instead I’m sitting here in my hotel room prepping for trial. Maybe I can round up an Ebbet trip tomorrow.

Stefan and I are a little sad this morning but with some wine friends we'll try to drown our sorrow at not being with you all by tapas at our favorite jazz club drinking a '02 Lanson Noble and two or three good pinots, of course including our fav OR St Innocent! BWE is and will continue to be our favorite family reunion and look forward to seeing you all soon. Still not too sure what is going on with my toe but will ignore it as we are doing a preliminary move to OR in a week. My follow up visit might be mid January when we return ?! Enjoy the weekend. Stefan....???gout in the big toe?? Hurts like hell, red swollen and not good for someone that drinks. If it is get some treatment. I've found colchicine stops it in it's tracks much better than NSAIDS. Only problem is it will keep coming back with drinking limiting a Bordeaux Wine Enthusiast!

Wonderful people (the best part of BWE) and large servings of nice French food. No flawed wines.
My WOTN was the 62 LLC. Amazingly for it's age and enjoyment, it was just a 375ml.
Next was, and I'm not a Champagne guy, the 13 Comte. Rare that I have a Champagne and think, I could sit on the deck with that bottle and enjoy it all afternoon.
The 34 Petrus (and Joel did some research so it might not be as old as 34) was very enjoyable.
I generally love Conseillante but the 90 was disappointing because, as Nicholas notes, it was a bit weak. Perhaps my 89 benchmark is not a fair comparison?
